During October till
December 2010 Radio Pulpit will have the Dare to
Care project and this year we will focus on
"Homeless people".
This year the focus is on the homeless,
specifically families and the elderly. These are
the unhappy people in our communities who are
per definition without a place to stay. They
life in structures of plastic and card board and
in shacks in the veld, mostly unemployed and
without hope to find a job.
"For I was hungry
and you gave met something to eat, I was thirsty
and you gave me something to drink, I was a
stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes
and you clothes me, I was sick and you looked
after me, I was in prison and you came to visit
me."
Matthew 25:35-36
Statistics show
that there are more unemployed people in SA that
people who have a job. We here at Radio Pulpit
are colour-blind, and will help anyone,
irrespectively of colour or race. We are acutely
aware of many thousands of black homeless people
living in shacks around Pretoria. What is
however not so visible is that there are also 20
000 white homeless persons in the same area of
which an estimated 6000 are children who are not
attending school due to their socio-economic
situation.
Dare to Care will endeavour to lend a helping
hand to homeless persons and we invite you to
become part of this effort. You can do so by
donating a hamper/s of food which will be
distributed to families and elderly persons.
Hampers must contain non- perishable foodstuffs
and could be aimed at a typical family of 4. The
cost of such a hamper could be around R300,
depending on the contents. These parcels of
hampers can then be taken to a
distribution
point where a trusted person of a accredited
organization who are partners of Radio Pulpit
will receive it for distribution to those in
need. If you are not in a position to take a
parcel of hamper to such a distribution point
you may consider making a cash donation into the
Dare to Care project account and we will then
negotiate with one or more supermarket chains to
buy hampers in bulk and we will then distribute
these to homeless people.
I thank you in anticipation for becoming part of
this project. For further information please
phone Christa Johnson at (012) 334-1287 or
e-mail
christaj@cnmedia.co.za.
The end date for this project will be the
10th of December 2010.
A food parcel is
preferred rather than a donation.
You are also welcome to give donations towards
this project by sending it to P O Box 3436,
Pretoria 0001, or into our bank account.
