Radio Pulpit's
Community Building Initiative is a national
programme aimed at empowering and uplifting
communities. The initiative is funded by the
business community and administrated by
Radio Pulpit. The vision of CBI is to bring
healing, hope and reconciliation.
Our focus is national, amongst all
communities and language groups, using each
and every project to introduce the people to
the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Every project subscribes to Radio Pulpit's
vision and mission, namely of building up
beliefs in their faith and reaching
unbelievers with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our
Socio-Economic Projects
SAACOM
An NGO is involved in correctional ministry
or the ministry to law offenders and victims
of crime. SAACOM also facilitates a Forum of
charities to perform training and ministry
work in Gauteng correctional facilities.

THE
MAGNOLIAHAVEN MEALS ON WHEELS
A service that provides nutritional cooked
meals to the doorstep of the elderly, the
disabled and the poor.

ETHEMBENI
DAY CARE
A day care centre that provides a secure and
safe environment that is conducive for the
children’s survival, learning and
development.
Children at the centre receive occupational
and physiotherapy by a professional
Physiotherapist and training and education
by trained Educare teachers. Their parents
also receive training in caretaking of their
disabled child.

HILDA
GONDA TRUST FUND
This trust fund was formed by the Dutch
Reformed Social Services which exists to
facilitate organized charitable service to
those in need in the Free State. Their aim
is to supply 24 hour care to those who
cannot take care of themselves due to
physical, mental or social circumstances.
This is a fund that looks after the
wellbeing of the needy elderly in the Free
State.

POPUP –
People Upliftment Programme
A skills training and development centre
that ensures the delivery of market related
skills, currently empowers over 800 people
through skills development each year.
All the learners attend a compulsory 10 day
Life Skills programme that is aimed at
restoring their lives and they are taught
that their lives have a purpose.
Learners are empowered with skills they need
to start their own businesses through a
Business Skills/Entrepreneurial programme.
The programme is presented by the Tshwane
University of Technology bi-annually at
POPUP.
The services of recruitment agencies and
labour brokers are utilized to place
qualified learners.

HAVEN OF
REST
The centre offers hope and healing to South
Africans and surrounding nations. A shelter
that cares for HIV/AIDS orphans; care for
the aged; a hospice for the terminally ill;
a rehabilitation centre for victims of
substance abuse; hope centre for abused
women; and a community clinic.

JESUS IS
LORD
A missionary station harbouring in the
squatter camp in the Kleinskool area, near
Port Elizabeth. This ministry feeds over
1000 poor people weekly; provides training
annually to 40 ladies in sewing, knitting,
fabric painting, beadwork and other skills;
and teaches the community morals and
Christian values.

HE CARES (Duduza
Helping Hand)
This project provides social upliftment
through social services to the poor, the
abused and the unemployed. It runs the
Tlhokomela Children Feeding Scheme which
caters for 300 learners from primary and
high school; HIV/AIDS infected and affected
learners after school.
Offers skills development on beading and
dressmaking. After acquiring the skills,
they are assisted with starting their own
businesses and contribute to the He Cares
project and become entrepreneurs.

REFILWE
COMMUNITY PROJECT
A multi-focused project that serves the
disadvantaged communities in the Lanseria
area, North of Johannesburg. They focus on
community healthcare and welfare; skills
development; enterprise development;
education; care of orphaned and vulnerable
children; and early childhood development.

ZENZELE
TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT
A community centre that empowers people
through entrepreneurial development by
providing sewing training which includes a
one-week business training component.
Graduates also receive business counselling
and support services to help them to obtain
jobs or self-employment.

Our
Enterprise Development
Radio Pulpit
supports enterprise development and is aware
of the critical role of entrepreneurship in
our Country. We have three entrepreneurial
projects that are Broad Based Black Economic
Empowerment (BBBEE) compliant; we offer them
on-going financial support and a mentoring
programme that assists them with managing
their businesses effectively.
SWEET &
LOVELY CATERING CC – Mentored by Learn to
Earn
A community-based business operating from
The Odd Cup Coffee Shop in Khayelitsha.
Providing a tuck-shop service for the staff
and students of Learn to Earn and external
catering for functions and corporates.
Nokuthula Sigaba, one of the Sweet & Lovely
owners has been able to attend training at
Ciro for a food styling workshop. She has
catered for Standard Bank, Old Mutual and
Foschini, among others.

THAMARA
FASHION DESIGNERS & NJOVA PRINCESS FASHION
DESIGNERS – Mentored by Zenzele Training and
Development
Princess Njova and Thamara Jamangile are
doing very well in their Fashion Designing
businesses. They have been monitored by our
business counsellor from Zenzele once a
month to check business progress. They are
assisted in marketing and recordkeeping.
Most of their orders are for wedding
traditional dresses.

MDC
MANUFACTURERS DESIGNERS OF FASHION CLOTHING
CC - Mentored by Klassis Boland Ontwikkeling
This fashion clothing business is run by
Margret Cupido who is based in Eagle Park,
Cape Town. Margret's sewing business has
improved after receiving two machines that
were sponsored by Radio Pulpit. Margret was
able to secure a contract with the Distell
wine company where she made aprons for their
clients. Radio Pulpit continues to give
Margret's business support in other areas of
her business.

CBI
