About trusting God and letting go

Written by on 6 October 2022

Trusting and letting go is a very difficult thing to do, we all want to be in the driving seat. We all feel safer when we are in control. Dictating the terms and making decisions. Letting go of the steering wheel and allowing someone to take the lead, make us feel uncomfortable. We sit at the edge, panic and try to take control of the wheel through our words.

Yet, God in His Word encourages us to trust Him. He calls us to a relationship of love and trust. Trust in His Lordship; trust in His guidance; trust in His timing. Trusting in His Word and believing in His promises.
God is not a man that He would lie, He delivers on His Word. Jeremiah 1:12 AMP says

Then said the Lord to me, You have seen well, for I am alert and active, watching over My Word to perform it.

So, if He said it, then He will do it! Trust Him with all that you are and all that you have. Past experiences influence our trust in God, people we trusted promised and never delivered, which in turn told us not to trust.

The Word cautions us not to place our trust in a person. It encourages us to trust in the Lord. To allow Him to take the lead and guide our footsteps. Psalm 146:3 Bible Gateway NIV:

Do not put your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.

Someone said, most times when we go through life’s tests and challenges, God doesn’t make sense. The challenge, is us trying to make sense of why we go through what we go through and what He says to us during that time.

I am sure Paul was like, “say what?!” when he asked the Lord to remove his thorn and God answered, “My Grace is sufficient for you.” I am so sure God didn’t make sense to him at this moment because he expected God to respond on his terms.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 amplified, says to never lean on our own understanding, our trust should be complete in God. “Trust in and rely confidently in the Lord with All Your Heart and not rely on your own insight or understanding. In All Your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

The NKJV, says He shall direct Your path. Yes, doubts will creep in but, we would rather be like Gideon in the Bible. He asked God to prove it was Him directing him and giving him a strategy for the battle against the Midianites. Trusting ourselves will only lead us to fall into ditches, wrong turns; wrong and frustrating relationships that lead to us falling into confusion and depression. Giving us more reasons, not to trust.

Trusting completely in the Lord brings peace, joy and good health., You can rest assured that you are in God’s good hands, He has your back. Let go of the wheel and let God lead.
