Are Christians allowed to take part in mass protests?

Written by on 30 October 2022

As Christians, we are meant to be peaceable and as much as possible not cause any ruinous raucous. However, we also should not be bystanders who watch injustice thrive in our land.  We are sons and daughters of a compassionate and loving God who cares for all His people.

Mass protests can serve to resolve some of the most irking issues we face today but are we allowed to participate in them as Christians? Well, that depends on the cause and how we participate. Are we causing destruction while protesting or are we causing change while causing as little harm as possible?

When we take on our role as changemakers in the world, the way we do things should be different and our methods should at the very least be conducted with dignity and integrity.

We are called to raise up the foundations of many generations; to be repairers of the breach and restorers of the streets to be dwell(ed) in (Isaiah 58:12). So, the answer is ‘Yes’. We are allowed to take part in mass protests for the right cause and we are to do so in ways that serve our community at large.

Join Wynand and Pastor Rocky Stevenson to find out how we can be Salt and Light in the world through being active participants of change. You will also enjoy the fresh perspectives from Pastor Rocky as he shares how our New Testament brothers and sisters stood up against oppression, fought the good fight and made an impact in their time; and how he ties that into our modern-day participation in mass protests.
